Pair a client
The app on your phone or desktop talks to the same Pantry app running on your Nextcloud. Pairing a client means pointing it at your server and signing in with your Nextcloud account — the app then sees the same houses, lists, boards and notes as the web interface.
What you need
Section titled “What you need”- A Nextcloud server with the Pantry app enabled.
- Your Nextcloud account on that server.
- The Pantry app installed — see Get the app below.
Get the app
Section titled “Get the app”Pantry has an app for Android, iOS and the desktop. It is a companion to the Pantry app running on your Nextcloud — the same checklists, photo board and notes, in your pocket and offline.
- Android — Google Play or F-Droid (Android 8.0+)
- iOS — App Store
Desktop
Section titled “Desktop”Direct downloads for the current release (v0.29.1):
- macOS — pantry-0.29.1-macos.dmg (Apple silicon & Intel)
- Windows — pantry-0.29.1-windows-x64.zip (64-bit)
- Linux — pantry-0.29.1-linux-x64.tar.gz (Standalone binary (x64))
On Linux the download is a standalone binary — extract the .tar.gz and run it; there is no
Flatpak or package to install. Every build, including Android APKs, lives on the
GitHub releases page.
Connect
Section titled “Connect”When you open the app for the first time it asks for your server. Enter your Server URL — just
the address, like cloud.example.com; the app adds https:// for you.
Then sign in one of two ways.
-
Enter your Server URL and tap Connect.
-
Your Nextcloud login page opens. Sign in there and Grant access to the app.
-
Return to the app — it finishes on its own once you have approved access.
This uses Nextcloud’s standard login flow, so the app never sees your password. It receives a device-scoped token instead.
If the browser login will not open — or your server uses a self-signed certificate — sign in with a Nextcloud app password instead.
-
In Nextcloud, go to Settings → Security → Devices & sessions and create a new app password.
-
In the app, tap Sign in with an app password instead.
-
Enter your Server URL, Username and the App password, then tap Sign in.
Both methods register a device under Settings → Security → Devices & sessions in Nextcloud, which you can revoke at any time.
Multiple houses
Section titled “Multiple houses”If your account belongs to more than one house, the app lets you switch between them. Everything you do stays scoped to the house you have open, exactly as it is on the web.
